Tea for two. :)

An author with a bubbling personality, a beautiful and passionate person, who has inspired her readers to celebrate life in every little way possible. She's undoubtedly none other than Preeti Shenoy.

If I could invite anybody for 'tea for two' today, it would undoubtedly be my Dad. My Dad works abroad and we get to spend a few days every few months. I devour the time we spend together and cling to those memories we create. They drive me and help cope up with the time away from him with a smile. My Dad is my omnipresent hero, my shower of rain after the heat, my source of inspiration, my first love, the person I miss and the person who has carved and molded me to the person I am today. When people admire something about me, I see my dad who instilled that quality in me. When I top a course or do something remarkable, I can feel my dad's happiness and look forward to his encouraging words. When life throws problems at me, I think of it from the perspective of a person who would have gone through so much to raise me. That pushes me forward and my problem seems like an anthill compared to the mountains he faced and endured to bring me up.
I can associate the lyrics of a beautiful song by Westlife to my Dad.

"When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary;
When troubles come and my heart burdened be;
Then, I am still and wait here in the silence,
Until you come and sit awhile with me."

"You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;

You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up... To more than I can be."

Thank you Dad. Wherever I go in life, you shall always be that constant source of inspiration, the person who taught me to stand up for what I believe in and the one who taught me to love and live life to the best I can.

Thank you Preeti Shenoy for evoking these beautiful memories and bringing out my love for my Dad in words. :)

Loving everybody around me. :)

Jet lag.

I was on YouTube listening to Jet lag by Simple Plan and enjoying the beats of this amazing song. That's when I saw something I hardly notice. The numbers of view for the video and shocked I was! 14,952,973! WOW!!
The entire population of Azerbaijan or Ethiopia and Somalia must have watched this. :D
Music speaks a language like nothing else. It's understood by everybody. It inspires, creates, teaches to love and makes us fall for it. Music has become a commodity all of us can afford. Musicians and singers are role models for many of us. I remember being five years old and being struck with awe by Avril Lavigne and K.S. Chitra! Singers who sing genres which are worlds apart. But their music inspired me to learn, love, be myself and remain rooted, inspite of my successes.
The sparkle of their eyes, the warmth in their voices, the calming of their presence through their music, the beating of a listener's heart. That feeling inside which was caused by the magic in their voice. These are those things that strikes me when I listen to music.
When I'm too tired to study, I get my books out, put on some music and I'm good to study. When I have exam jitters, a little calming music and I'm confident that I'll put my best foot forward. When we want to party, it's music again. When I'm stressed, it helps me de-stress. Music is a part of who we are. It moulds us into a beautiful person everyday. We can feel background music when we ask the love of our life out, we can hear that favorite song playing in our head during an exam and when we're sad, happy, depressed, hyper or in love, music plays a role. The first thing a baby recognizes is its mother's voice. And the second thing? The sound of Music. ♥
They say we are born alone (unless your twins or triplets) and we shall go to the grave alone. No, music accompanies us from the start to the end. Baby showers, naming ceremony, funeral ceremony. Songs are sung and music is played at all these places.
The worth of a person's life is determined by the music he listens to. Your taste in music can determine how smart or dumb you are. That's a study! Check it out at  http://www.labnol.org/internet/music-taste-linked-to-intelligence/7489/. Don't take it seriously though, no discrimination intended to any artist!
Let's value that one thing without which we wouldn't live the way we do! We won't part till eternity!

My thoughts on a quote I stumbled across.

"Success occurs in private, but failure always comes into the limelight."
Isn't this quote so true? All of us remember what a person couldn't achieve than what he/she has  accomplished in life. There are so many examples I can provide in this context.

In daily life, don't we all say, "My sister can't even clean the kitchen after she cooks!" If you read between the lines, it means that she is allowed access to the kitchen. That roughly translates into, "My sister is a good/great cook!"
Moving on to sports. In football, all of us remember that one goal our favorite goalkeeper missed. In cricket, all of us remember how many times Sachin Tendulkar got out with nil runs. We don't remember and reminiscent the sixes Yuvraj Singh scored during the IPL or Pele's record.
Politics. All of us say how every political team never did anything about power cuts and poor water supply. But do we even vote to have a say on what they do? Or do we even acknowledge the good things (like educational facilities, public transportation) that the government does for its public?
Personal achievements. How many times have you caught yourself saying, "No, I can't cook/sing/dance/speak in public.."? I'm not asking you to sing praises in your glory, but appreciate and share the tasks that you are good at. You will probably be able to help another person who lacks all the proclamation you happen to have in that field.
Grade cards. This has happened with all of us at some point of time in our life. We bring our grade cards home after the finals and our parents quiz us on why we have lost two marks in Mathematics (no, I've never got anything more than an 80 in Math!). Appreciate the improvements and achievements first! If you've got two marks more in any subject, your efforts deserve to be appreciated. No, not a standing ovation. But a word of encouragement and a praise to boost your confidence. How long does that take to say?

I can go on and on with examples, but I think you catch the point. Failure should motivate you to succeed. It should be the stepping stone to success. Every small success should encourage you to try bigger things with small leaps.
Let's start by appreciating people's failures, cause they get closer to success with every failure (no, I'm not justifying a failure with no work done).

"Be the change you want to see."
-Mahatma Gandhi

*I intend nothing when I have used the names of Sportsmen & Political Institutions.*
*A word of THANKS to Prashant Iyer for inspiring me to write an article with a quote submitted by him on his blog! :)*

Happy New Year! :)

A new year has blossomed and a new life with crisp, new experiences is awaiting us. We have all been here before, fervently making resolutions for the year ahead, praying to God to make the year a prosperous one and hoping that atleast this year we accomplish that long-lost, well hidden dream of ours. There are already speculations about the end of the world and it is no matter to me whether you believe in it or not. But, if it indeed is true (which I so badly doubt) what are those things you want to accomplish by the end of the year? Comment in the box below! :)
What is a resolution and why take one???
Wikipedia defines a New Year's resolution as a commitment that a person makes to one or more lasting personal goals, projects, or the reforming of a habit.
Resolutions are taken to improve the quality of life that each one of us live. We are giving ourselves a chance to correct the flaws in us. And oh yes, why follow it? Because you have taken it! Simple as that. ;)
2012 has so many events scheduled in it. I am looking forward to many of them! A look at a few of them.
January 13 to 22nd: The first Winter Youth Olympics in Austria.
May 12 to August 12th: World Expo in South Korea
June 6th: The second and last solar transit of Venus of the century! The next pair is predicted to occur in 2117 and 2125. DON'T MISS IT!
July 27th to August 12th: The 2012 Summer Olympics held in London.
August 6th to August 20th: The Curiosity Rover is scheduled to land on Mars.
December 21st: Possibility of the world ending. WHATEVER! :P

With so many international & even spatial events scheduled in 2012, it really looks like a year to look forward to! What are the events that have happened or are about to happen in 2012 that you are looking forward to???
